Venice is the city of the arts and quite simply, Venice itself is a masterpiece. Slowly sinking into the waters of the Venice lagoon, as the seas of the Adriatic rise inexorably, this sinking city on the water is a sight that everyone should experience at least once in their life-time. Children in particular can have their eyes opened to the arts at a young age, and the experience will live with them always.
The ageing photos of Venice on this page are from the webmaster's own collection of photos taken nearly 30 years ago, and even looking at them now, so many years later, it is hard to convey the sense of wonder, when first gazing over a city where roads and alleyways are replaced by waterways. You know about Venice, you've read about it and you have probably seen photos to... but the reality is overwhelming. The rising damp that we normally try to prevent at home is actually lapping at the very doorsteps of these Venetian houses. The hidden squares and footbridges overlay the network of waterways and provide a unique insight into city life in a car-free world. It is quite different from any of the other great cities of the world; from Rome to Paris, London to New York. Even watery Amsterdam cannot compete with this Renaissance masterpiece which is a Canaletto painting from every vantage point.

This lovely, large 1 bedroom apartement (70 sq mt) is located in Cannareggio area of Venice, a very popular area of Venice near the oldest Jewish Ghetto in the world. Restaurants, Venetian shops and San Marco Square, Doges Palace and the Bridge of Sighs within easy reach.
The last tantalising glimpse of freedom for prisoners crossing the Bridge of Sighs from the courthouse to the prison.
These quiet surrounds of this apartment provide relaxed self-catering accommodation in a contemporary surrounding, and enable the visitor to experience the originality of the Venetian life style, in a way that no hotel can.

The rental apartment is located just 10 minutes walk from the Railway station of Santa Lucia, 50 meters from Tre Archi Embarcadero and 300 meters from the Vaporetto Station of "3 Archi". Arrivals are via Venice airport.
