The rental apartment is set amongst the unspoilt hills of Lunigiana in the small quaint village of Quercia, just 10 minutes from Aulla. Constructed in March 2005 to its architect owner's standards, it is one of a small group of two storey apartments. Situated on the upper level, its L-shaped balcony provides glorious 270 degree views of the surrounding Lunigiana hills.
This lovely apartment is available for rent all year round so you can enjoy both the hot sunny days of summer and the brisk cool but sunny days of winter, not forgetting Autumn and Spring which are also wonderful seasons to visit the Lunigiana area in Tuscany. Seasonal delicacies can be found at the Saturday morning market at nearby Aulla which is a delight to visit, such as game, porcini mushrooms, truffles and chestnuts.
THE RENTAL APARTMENT
The living area of this upper-level apartment is fitted with the latest electronic entertainment consisting of CD player, radio and remote control TV. The divan is of a high quality and modern design allowing you to relax in comfort. The balcony offers wonderful views and it's L-shaped design means that you can choose to relax in the sun or shade, or simply sit in the shade of the sun umbrella.
The modern kitchen is fitted to a high standard with gas hot plates and electric oven, refrigerator, toaster, tea and coffee making appliances etc. The separate laundry is equipped with an automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board.

There is a central modern bathroom with shower.
LOCATION
The quaint village of Quercia is about 10 mins from the up and coming city of Aulla. The newly built Aulla railway station, from which it is possible to travel to most parts of the country and Europe, is situated just two and a half kilometres down the road from the apartment. There is a bus stop right outside the apartment which takes you to the station, Aulla and other interesting villages. There is a Stadio Sportivo (Sports Stadium) just 900 metres from the apartment with soccer, athletic tracks, swimming and tennis facilities as well as recently established pizzeria.
The apartment is within an easy drive of many ancient castles, restaurants, bars, cinemas, thermal spas and modern shopping.
It is also an easy drive to the coast and the cities of Lerici, Portofino, Viareggio, Cinque Terre and the natural thermal spas at Equi Terme.
The winter ski resort is only about 45 mins away. Catch a train or drive to historic cities like Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, Parma, Milan and many other wonderful cities all with their own character.
Pisa and Florence are within striking distance so this holiday rental provides an excellent base from which to explore the Tuscany region.

The city of Pisa competed fiercely with the neighbouring city states with Florence under the rule of the Medici dynasty. The rivalries that ensued were like those between the students of CALTech and MIT or Oxford and Cambridge and an interesting exhibit is the chains from the gates of the mediaeval city of Genoa
The Duomo at Pisa is perhaps one of the most spectacular pieces of Renaissance architecture and the doors are memorably ornate solid cast bronze.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair knows the best places for a relaxing and revitalising holiday and has spent precious holiday time in nearby Panicale at a property owned by a relative of this apartment's owner - We might not all bear the pressures of a PM, but we certainly owe it to ourselves to experience the vitality of Lunigiana with our families too. He's not flavour of the month for the war in Iraq but under Saddam Hussein, according to our Baghdad client, if you had ice cream in your house, you would be beheaded. Perhaps Tony Blair had been inspired by the Pisa depiction of hell and the heaven of Italian ice creams here in Tuscany!

How to get to Lunigiana
The closest airport is Pisa.If you are using public transport, catch a train at the Pisa station to Aulla and then catch a taxi to Quercia, about 9 kilometres away.
If you prefer to hire a car at the airport, just follow the signs for A12 (Genoa) and then turn off onto the A15 (Parma) and exit at the Aulla turn off. You are now heading for Aulla city. Once you pass the toll gates you are not far away.
