A holiday in Cortona is an absolute delight for anyone who enjoys history, the arts and all that Tuscany has to offer, from its food and wine, to its landscapes and of course the glorious cities of Florence, Pisa and Rome to the South - all easily accessible by road and rail.
FARMHOUSE FOR RENT
"I Girasoli" is a restored farmhouse set in a landscape of sunflowers and arable farmland, just 5 minutes drive from the centre of Cortona.
This 5 bedroomed rental property also has a small cottage in the grounds, which is ideal for family holidays where a little bit of extra privacy is appreciated. It has been carefully restored by the English speaking owners, whilst retaining the beamed ceilings and many original features.
COTTAGE FOR RENT
The separate annex 'La Capanna' is available for rent together with the farmhouse, or (when the farmhouse is not occupied by other guests) separately.
Swimming pool (12m x 6m)
The large outdoor pergola with sun loungers and umbrellas on the terrace and swimming pool, which is solar heated, can be enjoyed throughout the day, because the Tuscan sunshine is uninterrupted.
Please note that the pool is closed from mid-October to mid-May. Views from the pool open out over the countryside. You can hardly imagine a more relaxing setting for a family holiday.
RENTAL ACCOMMODATION (5 bedroom, sleeps 10-12)
Accommodation is split between the farmhouse and the separate cottage. These are only available for rent together during the Summer season, but the cottage is available for rental by itself from October to May.

The are 4 bedrooms in the main farmhouse
- 1 bedroom on the ground floor with double bed and en-suite shower room with bidet, wc and sink.
- 1 double bedroom on the first floor, one with double bed and en-suite shower room with bidet, wc and sink.
- 2 bedrooms on the first floor, both with the option of either a double bed or two singles in each, with shared shower room with bidet, wc and sink.
La Capanna - Cottage accommodation
There is the option of either a double bed or two singles in the detached cottage, with shower room with wc and sink.
CORTONA TOURIST INFORMATION
Cortona has long been associated with the arts and mysticism and it continues to have a thriving arts community. Nearby Gubbio and Deruta are also famous for their ceramics. It has a long history and anyone interested in archaeology will find the nearby Etruscan tombs and museum in Cortona simply amazing.
Lake Trasimeno
Lake Trasimeno, with its many beaches, and the third largest lake in Italy (where Hannibal defeated the Romans) is only a fifteen minute drive away. There are endless attractions for everyone.
Florence, Pisa and Rome
The city of Florence is a one hour drive from the farmhouse, and Pisa or Rome can be reached in two hours. Conveniently, the farmhouse is just ten minutes from the Superstrada (motorway) and five minutes from the mainline railway station.Wine and cheese
Wine lovers are spoilt for choice with the many vineyards in the area, including the neighbours farm, where everyone helps bring the grape harvest in. Montepulciano is famous for its "vino nobile" as well as Montalcino which is famous for its wines. Pienza is famous for its pecorino cheese.
Arezzo antiques fair
For antique enthusiasts Arezzo has a huge antiques fair on the first Sunday of each month, plus the preceding Saturday - this is a must!!Activities
